When selecting your wedding dress it’s really important that you work to the sizing charts that we have given, as you can appreciate we all vary in dress size from shop to shop depending on where we are shopping on the high street, so be careful that you do not guess your wedding dress size, whilst your high street size will work as a good "guide" that’s all it should be a guide. To help you select the correct sized wedding dress we have given a simple guide to follow below, but if you get stuck then please email us via our contact page on this website or you can call our bridal shops on 01636 676909 mon-sat 10-5 (closed Tuesdays) and we will help you. Bust/Chest - Please pass the tape measure around your back and across your chest. DO NOT go by bra size, because bra size is the measurement around your rib cage under your Bust/chest. If you work by bra size your dress will be too small on the chest. Waist - Please measure directly under the lowest ribs (not around the tummy). Hips - Please measure around the fullest part of your bottom, not the hip bones. Length - Wedding dresses tend to be made to a standard length of approx 58" shoulder to hem measuring down the side of the body. We can accommodate extra length on our made to order wedding dresses sized in store with our sales team. CHILDRENS SIZING CHARTS Children can vary so much in size even if they are the same physical age, so its really important to work to your child's measurements for accuracy. Pass the tape measure around their chest and back, then their natural waist, finally measure from their shoulder to the floor taking shoes into account. Bridesmaid dresses can be worn full length or ballerina length subject to preference, but we advise that the dress is not left to hang onto the floor as children tend to rush around more and may be at risk of standing on the hem and tripping, so at least 3" up off the floor will be best. If your child is tall and slim you may need to purchase the dress long enough with a view to having the dress taken in on the side seams OR purchase so the dress is comfortable on the chest and waist but falls at ballerina/shin length. For broader and not so tall bridesmaid you will need to purchase the best fitting size for chest and waist but please be aware that you may have a gown that is too long so alterations to re-hem may be necessary.
